Catch a Wave

About the Book:

Title: Catch a Wave
Series: Love Tippin’ #3
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: March 15th, 2024
Genre: Romantic Comedy

id you ever see a guy and just know you had to meet him?

That was me and Bodhi Merrick. I couldn’t take my eyes off him as he donned his wetsuit at the famous big-wave surf spot, Mavericks. I’ll never forget that day. Or every time our paths crossed after that. Big wave surfing is a small world.

And, as it happens, Bodhi felt the same tug—this irresistible attraction that drew us to one another.
We became known as surfing’s “it couple.” Our love was more famous than either of us.
Until life threw us for a loop and tore what we had apart.

Now, two years after our breakup, I find myself standing on my brother’s front porch, ready to beg my only sibling for a place to crash.
Only, the man who answers the door isn’t my brother.
It’s my brother’s best friend—also known as my ex-boyfriend, Bodhi Merrick.

Now we’re living in the same house on Marbella Island.
Bodhi seems to have moved on.
My heart will always be his.

How am I supposed to heal from the biggest tragedy of my life when he’s walking around in board shorts with his wavy hair falling across his forehead, and calling me the nickname he gave me years ago? Maybe I don’t want to get over him. The question is: After all we’ve been through, can we give our relationship a second chance?

Book Review:

I loved this book! There was so much heart in it, and Bohdi and Kalaine’s characters felt real to me.

I really liked Bohdi’s honesty in his life. It was interesting to see how he had changed after his accident. In some ways for the better and in some ways for the worst. He was still healing, and he was working through how to love Kalaine. He was such a sweetheart with her because even though he wanted a relationship, he chose to wait for what she wanted. But I really liked how they pushed each other to be better even if it was uncomfortable.

Kalaine was so fun to me! It was interesting to see her free spirit in the past and present. But she was also healing from her own accident. It was cool to see her move forward with Bohdi’s help.

The storyline in this one is super sweet. It’s still a closed door romcom, but there’s a lot of depth because Bohdi and Kalaine are working through their own trauma from the accident. While Kalaine never is clinically depressed, Bohdi mentions being depressed after his accident and going into a downward spiral. This is all past tense and mentioned during the end of the story. But it’s still fun with all the romcom vibes. I would definitely recommend this read to anyone who’s longing for a summer and looking for a beach read!

Rent Yourself an Elf

About the Book:

Title: Rent Yourself an Elf
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: December 15th, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

She’s not feeling the holiday spirit. Maybe all she needs is to rent herself an elf.

It’s Christmas, and I should be full of cheer, but I’m having a hard time mustering the holiday spirit. That was always Grams’ role. She loved Christmas so much she talked my parents into naming me Noelle. Yeah, Noelle Furst. Picture the boys in elementary school having a heyday with my name. But I didn’t care. I knew Gram picked it for me, and I wore it proudly.

When Grams passed two years ago, she left me this house. I’m a lot of things, but a handywoman isn’t one of them. And there’s a ton of work to be done.

My big plan? Ignore Christmas this year. In only one month I can move into a new year and put my painful memories back in a box along with all the decorations. But my friends have other ideas.

When I open my front door and look up, there’s a very muscular, very not-an-elf looking man in a Santa hat smiling a stocking-curling smile at me. He’s holding a toolbox.
He says, “Hi, I’m your elf,” and with those four short words, I’m rethinking my whole stance on this holiday.

Book Review:

I loved this novella! It was adorable and the perfect pick up read after finals!

I thought  Liam and Noelle were adorable together, and  I feel like I actually connected with both of them. I think it’s harder to actually understand some characters since novellas are so short, but I loved Liam and Noelle from the start. This was such a cute concept, and the story just flew by.

This was a super fun read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a little Christmas cheer!

He’s So Not My Valentine

About the Book:

Title: He’s So Not My Valentine
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: January 24th, 2024
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Here are a few fun facts about me:
1. I do not love Valentine’s Day.
2. I love coffee.
3. I’ve never left the state of North Carolina.

I’m not complaining. I grew up in the quaint town of Harvest Hollow, met my charming husband, and had our amazing son here … That was before my “charming” ex-husband decided he needed to expand his horizons.

Since that time, I’ve been raising Nate alone, with the support of my family, and running Cataloochee Coffee like it’s my own business.

I’m not looking for romance–especially not at this time of year when everyone couples up in the name of a dead saint who happens to be the patron of lovers, epileptics and beekeepers.

When Rene Dubois comes from France to visit my sister and her husband, I obviously keep my distance. I don’t need his kisses to my cheeks, his flirty banter, or the way his bright green eyes make me feel flutters in my belly and tingles across my skin. I don’t do flutters or tingles.

My sister keeps assuring me Rene is amazing and harmless. But she’s the dreamer in the family. Rene may be gorgeous, have a buttery French accent, and a charismatic personality. All I know is He’s so not my Valentine.

Book Review:

This was an adorable read! I have been hoping that Rene and Heather would get a book, and I loved seeing them together.

I loved Heather from the beginning. Her resilience and determination were really admirable, and I loved how she looked after her son. It was really sweet to watch her open up to Rene and see that she could still have fun. She had been alone for so long, and she didn’t really trust anyone besides her family. I did love her family relationships and how close she was with them.

Rene was a sweetheart! I do not like players, but I realized quickly that he wasn’t one. He truly loved his friends and family, and he was willing to do whatever for them. I really liked how serious he was in his relationship with Heather. He felt an instant connection to her, but he didn’t lead her on at all.

The romance in this one was fast, but I thought it was really sweet! Both of the characters instantly connected with one another without being insta love. This is a fast read perfect for anyone who loves Valentine romcoms!

A Fish Out of Water

About the Book:

Title: A Fish Out of Water
Series: Love Tippin’ #2
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: November 13th, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

I knew trying to make a fresh start on Marbella Island would mean reinventing myself.
I’m only here while I work my way up to my dream role in a major motion picture in Hollywood.
Which explains why I took a role playing a mermaid in the island production of In So Deep.

What I didn’t count on?
Ben. The charmer who just took a job as a water sports instructor.

Everyone loves Ben.
Everyone but me.

Sure, when I saw him step off the ferry on his first day, I thought he was gorgeous. His mussed hair–light brown with blond highlights, those brown eyes that are deceptively kind, the way his chiseled jawline makes him look so manly, but then his face still holds a boyish charm.

And then he opened his mouth and laid the cheesiest line on me.
Every red flag and warning bell sounded in my brain: Steer clear of the player.

Ben is like a sea otter, all cute and playful, until he turns and charges you.
Haven’t you ever heard of a sea otter attack?
Well, I’m sure it’s a thing. And I’m not getting close enough to test that theory.
Close to sea otters, I might. Close to Ben, no thank you.

And now, Ben seems to be everywhere I go. He’s at the coffee shop when I get my morning latte. He’s the one at the rental shack when I take a kayak out to visit the locals on the north side of the island … and now, he’s going to be the male lead in the play I’m in.

The pirate to my mermaid.

I am determined to keep a safe distance from Ben, even if he’s determined to keep trying to prove he’s not as dangerous as I think he is.

Book Review:

This was a cute book! Savannah Scott is one of my favorite authors, and her books are so much fun.

Ben was a fun protagonist! He definitely was a bit of a flirt, but he had a good heart underneath his charisma. I liked how you got to see more and more underneath his flirty side as the book went on. He definitely adored Summer though, and it was fun to watch him get a little rattled by her. While he was an adorable MC, I think the flirty ones are not my favorites, so I had a harder time getting into his character. While their relationship ended up being very sweet, he felt a little pushy to me when he was with Summer. But he won me over at the end with his loyalty and love.

I liked Summer from the start! She had had so much fire in her, and it was interesting to see the different facets of her personality. She acted like a different person when she was around Ben while in reality, she had so much fun and heart.

Summer and Ben were perfect for each other! She helped him settle down a little, and he helped her relax and have fun. I loved watching them trust each other, and while this is a slow burn romance, it is definitely worth it! There is no third act breakup, and the characters have healthy, honest conversations with each other. This was a fun read! You get to learn a lot more about the island of Marbella, and you’re introduced to some fun, new characters!

Are We There Yet?

About the Book:

Are We There Yet? : A Sweet Road Trip Romcom (Love Trippin' Book 1) by [Savannah Scott]

Title: Are We There Yet?
Series: Love Tippin’ #1
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: July 15th, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

A vintage VW van. Four friends. A cross-country road trip.
It will be the best adventure of my life, if only I can shake the feelings I have for Cameron
.

Cameron Reeves is as gorgeous as his name makes him sound.
He’s about six feet tall, which is the height I always wrote in my ideal man list in my journal. Yes. I have a list of qualities I want in a man. And Cameron ticks all those boxes—except two.

  • He’s my best friend’s older brother.
  • He barely knows I exist.

That is, unless you count the fact that I’m a fixture in his life. Cameron probably gives me as much thought as he gives his sofa. It’s there. It’s always been there. Comfortable, reliable, old sofa.

I’ll get over Cameron eventually. Don’t we all get over the hum and rush of our first crush?

If anything, six or seven days cooped up in a van together on a trip across the country should kill any infatuation I have and kill it good.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, so maybe forced proximity works the opposite way. A girl can hope.

Book Review:

I loved this book! I fell in love with Savannah Scott’s writing through her Getting Shipped series, and I was so excited to read this book. It starts out in Bordeaux with some cameos from old friends, but it’s about a whole new set of characters!

I liked Riley from the start of the book! She had so much fun and energy, and I like how she felt young in a lot of ways. She was trying to figure herself out, and her crush on Cameron wasn’t helping. I really liked all the character growth she did in learning about herself and choosing to try new things. And she and Cameron were adorable together!

Cameron was a sweetheart, definitely an old soul. He was super responsible and determined, but he didn’t know how to enjoy life and relax. I love how the road trip opened his eyes to other possibilities and to things that were right in front of him, like Riley.

They were so cute together! I love all the different ways their opposite personalities worked together, and they really balanced each other well. It was sweet too to see how Cameron’s grandparents had a similar relationship to Riley and Cameron.

The plot of this one is all summer fun! It’s road trips and memories, and I really liked how the drama got resolved quickly as well. This is a clean summer romcom that I would definitely recommend!
