Grief tore them apart. Love brought them back. Together, they’ll fight for a second chance.
Bec Jones has finally learned to face her problems. Or so she thought. When she comes face to face with Captain Thatcher Wild on an Army base in middle-of-nowhere Germany nearly three years after she ran from him, she’s not so sure. But when confronted by her past decisions, Bec’s heart longs for a second chance, even as her mind begs her to steer clear of the risk Thatcher presents.

Thatcher Wild has loved Bec since he’s known her, but the wounds she left cut him deep. Though he’s denied it for years, they haven’t healed. He wants to be with her, especially since fate has brought them back together, but he knows what happens when she runs and he can’t be sure she won’t do it again.

While Thatcher struggles with lingering resentment and the fear that Bec can’t love him the way he needs, Bec is haunted by her loss, and dreads experiencing anything like it again. They’ll both have to decide whether love is worth the risk.

Book Review:

I have been waiting for this book! Bec and Thatcher deserved their happy ending and I was so happy that they got their own book! Learning to Fight After Flight is the third book in Claire Cain’s The OCONUS Bonus series. I am mostly caught up on all of Cain’s books so that made this book so much more enjoyable.

Bec Jones and Thatcher Wild had history together, one that could drive them apart again. Grief tore them apart, but love brought them back together will their love last this time? Bec fled from Thatcher and her memories three years ago but fate has brought them back together. Thatcher has loved Bec since he’s met her but when she left it hurt him dearly. When he sees her again, he wants to be with her but will they be able to work through old feelings?

I have to admit I was really worried about Bec especially after reading about her from other books, but I have to say I liked how Cain made her grow. Bec had been through a lot and she was struggling to come to terms with her grief, although it had been a couple of years she still felt like she was drowning. It was so nice to see her grow, she had improved so much since you last read about her in one of the other series.

I loved Thatcher, he really cared for Bec and he was such a sweet guy! I felt bad for him though, his heart had been dragged through the dirt and yet he still held on to hope that one day he and Bec could be together. Anyway, I just really liked him and I liked reading about him with Bec. He did have to learn how to trust Bec again though, because of how she had left him for Germany.

Thatcher and Bec had a whole lot of past between them that they needed to learn to work through. I was rooting for them the whole time. Bec had to learn to let go of her grief and to stay. Thatcher had to learn what it meant to love Bec and how to help her. They were people learning how to deal with grief and learning what it meant to be in a relationship with each other. Will they be able to last when grief and old memories come back to haunt them?

Learning to Fight After Flight was such a great book! I loved seeing old characters again and getting to see how they were doing. It was super fun to see Ben come in for a little. Learning to Fight After Flight was a wonderful book and I would definitely recommend it! I think it would be best for teens 16 and up. It can be read standalone, but it is better if you read it in order. Learning to Fight After Flight is a closed door military romance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
