Gage Stewart has spent five years trying to overcome his past. Once an abused and troubled teenager, he has worked tirelessly to move beyond the fateful day he was manipulated into holding a group of teenagers hostage. Now, with a new identity and a college degree in criminal psychology, he accepts an unlikely job teaching others what to do during mass shootings.

At the hotel where his class is held, Gage is immediately drawn to Skyler Prescott, the daughter of the wealthy hotel owner. Gage and Skyler quickly discover a shared desire for normalcy, and their easy friendship soon develops into something more. But after a night out ends in horror when a gunman opens fire in the crowded venue, they make an alarming discovery that threatens more than their relationship. The attack was little more than a publicity stunt to draw out the real target: presidential candidate Senator James Whitmore. Unwilling to become someone’s scapegoat, Gage must now work in tandem with the very men who ended his own life of crime before it began—the Saint Squad.

Book Review:

I haven’t read any of the other Saint Squad books but Redemption was still amazing and thrilling! Redemption is the 11th book in Traci Hunter Abramson’s Saint Squad series and it was truly a wonderful suspenseful book! Redemption had so many wonderful characters and a story that I couldn’t put down. I know I need to read the rest of the books. I now have so many books to add to my TBR!

Skylar was so fun to read about, she was learning how to be herself and not let her family define her. She just wanted to live a quiet life, but being related to a man who owned hotels had their perks. It was sweet to read about her falling in love with Gage, she allowed him to see parts of herself that she kept hidden from the rest of the world. However,  will she stand with Gage when she learns about his past? Will Skylar be able to see the changed man that Gage had become?

I felt for Gage from the beginning. He had gone through so much at a young age and I wanted him to find peace. I enjoyed reading about him as he learned to forgive himself and  move on from the past. It was cute to read about him falling in love with Skylar and wanting to make her feel special. However, teaching others what to do during mass shootings brings back memories of his past. Gage had to figure out how to help others and see the good in himself.

Gage and Skylar were definitely a lot of fun to read about, but it was also so interesting to read from some of the other Saint Squad members’ perspective. It was cool to read about the Saint Squad and it made me want to read the other books. I love characters who find their “family” and stick with them. The characters were lovely, and their relationships were so relatable. The action and suspense were perfect. I didn’t feel scared but I also couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know what would happen and how it would end.

Redemption is the first suspense book that I have read written by Traci Hunter Abrmason, but it will definitely not be the last. I would totally recommend this book, even if you haven’t read the rest of the series it is still great. I also love how the title fits the story, it was such an awesome redemption story.

Series: Flying in Love #2
Author: Chalon Linton
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: July 2, 2021
Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Fiction

A traffic jam is the last thing Piper Holland needs in her already stressful day. The dry cleaner’s will soon close, and she really hopes to wear her luxury silk blouse when she pitches her theme to the editors of the magazine she works for. But when she finally sees what’s caused the backup, she feels a pinch of guilt: a man in a military uniform is gallantly pushing a stalled vehicle off the road. Suddenly, her rush to the dry cleaner’s seems incredibly unimportant. Fate offers Piper a chance to redeem herself, however, when the handsome good Samaritan crosses her path again.

Gabriel Orsini, a fighter pilot stationed at Luke Air Force Base, seems to be the perfect man, and an assignment at the magazine offers Piper the perfect chance to get to know him better. Her “Day in the Life: Hometown Heroes” article was tailor-made for the bighearted pilot. Before long, their interviews for the article enter date territory, and Piper realizes she’s falling for Gabriel. But her tragic past has taught her one thing: no one stays. And the transient lifestyle of a military man leaves her no doubt that Gabriel will eventually abandon her too. With her heart on the line, Piper must decide: is the risk of loss worth the possibility of forever?

Book Review:

This book was just what I needed to read! Fly Home to Me is the first contemporary of Chalon Linton that I have read and I really enjoyed it. Fly Home to Me is the second book in Chalon Linton’s Flying in Love series. I haven’t read the first book yet, but I don’t feel like you need to, Fly Home to Me was still really good!

Piper Holland has her life in control, but a chance encounter with Gabriel Orsini, a fighter pilot stationed at Luke Air Force Base changes everything. Piper and Gabriel’s paths cross again when she asks him to be part of Her “Day in the Life: Hometown Heroes” article. As they spend time together, Piper finds herself falling for Gabriel. But can she let him into her heart knowing that he might leave her? As they fall in love Piper will have to decide if taking the risk of loss is worth the possibility of forever.

I was kind of on the fence regarding Piper, I liked her and I didn’t at the same time. I had mixed feelings, but as I read more about her she grew on me. I did however feel really bad for her. She was trying to find her footing in life, and she needed to be in control. I could relate to her in a sense and I wanted her to be happy. It was sweet to read about her with Gabriel, he helped her relax and enjoy life. But Piper had to learn to trust God and to jump hoping that she could fly.

Gabriel, Gabe, was a lovely character. He was a bit of a flirt but he cared for Piper. It was fun to read about them interacting. He jumped in headfirst with Piper and it was sweet to read about their relationship progress. He tried so hard to win Piper’s heart and to be there for her. I just really liked him, he was easy going and kind.

Piper and Gabe had such a fun relationship! He helped her relax and look to God. Piper had been struggling with life, and Gabe was steady. Fly Home to Me was such a fun contemporary read about characters living in life. I really enjoyed the pace and just the everyday feel. I also really liked reading about Piper’s brothers. They had such a nice relationship, but Piper did have to learn to forgive and to let people in.

Fly Home to Me was a really good book! I would definitely recommend it! Fly Home to Me is a clean, contemporary romance with hints of religion.

Book Review:

This was a really cute read and I really enjoyed it. Falling for the Innkeeper is a short, cute read that leaves you wanting more. Falling for the Innkeeper is Meghan Whistler’s debut novel and I would definitely recommend it!

Falling for the Innkeeper has a hero who is disguised as a workaholic, a damsel in distress, who does not need help from anyone, and a lovely little girl to bind them together. Jonathan Masters has buried himself in his work and he is so close to getting his partnership in his firm, all he has to do is convince a woman to sell him a charming Cape Cod inn. Laura Lessoway is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and what better way than to run the inn she loved her whole life. She will do anything to  give her daughter a happy and settled life. But things never go according to plan.

This was such a fun book, I loved reading about Jonathan as he came to the inn with a plan and everything falling apart when he met Laura. She immediately captures his heart and he finds himself wanting to spend time with her. I thought it was especially cute who he played and cared for Emma, Laura’s daughter. Jonathan is one of my favorite types of heroes, because he seems kind of gruff on the outside and then you actually spend time with him and find that he is a sweetheart.

Laura was a strong woman but she had some scars from her childhood and previous marriage. She wanted badly to give her daughter a good life and to protect her daughter from the things she had to go through. She didn’t trust herself to choose a good guy and she didn’t trust that people can be different. But then she and Jonathan started to spend time together and she began to see that Jonathan was different. I loved how she gave him the nickname, Harvard. Nicknames help make everything better.

Falling for the Innkeeper was a really good book and I absolutely adored how it was set in a small town. It really adds to the book, when everyone knows each other. I would definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to see what else Meghan writes!
