Not that she hasn’t noticed Levi Kiem, the eligible young man who’s making repairs in her house. Yet he surely has no interest in Esther as anything other than a friend . . .

It’s true that Levi has plenty of marriage prospects. His dat has even offered to send him to Ohio to find a wife. Yet the more time he spends with Esther, the more intrigued he becomes. Feisty and independent, she’s nothing like the wife he once imagined for himself. Yet just as a quilt is crafted from contrasting cloth, they might find that together, they can create a family to cherish . . .

Book Review:

This was so cute! I have read a couple of Jennifer Beckstrand’s books and I always enjoyed reading them. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby is Jennifer Beckstrand’s newest book. Esther Zook is just trying to start over after the death of her father, but her sister has other plans for her and abandons her baby with Esther. Esther has accepted her status as an old maid, but can she be a mother? Luckily she has Levi Kiem, the eligible young man who’s making repairs on her house to help her. But he has no interest in Esther other than a friend. However, the more time Levi spends with Esther, the more intrigued he is by this feisty independent woman.

Esther was such an amazing independent woman. I was so jealous of her crafting abilities. I loved reading about her with Winter or Winnie, which they called her. It was so sweet how she tried so hard to be a good mother. Although Esther did not feel prepared to be a mother, she did her best and she wanted what was best for Winnie. Esther had to learn what it meant to love Winnie and her sister, Ivy. Esther would have to find that God’s plan is better than her own.

Levi was funny! I liked him from the moment I read about him. He was kind and he loved children, however, he could be a little conceited. It was sweet to read about him helping Esther with Winnie. However, he needed to get over himself and his ideas about a perfect wife. I loved reading about him falling in love with Esther and Winnie. Levi had to learn to trust God’s plan and what it meant to love Esther.

Esther and Levi had to work together to care for Winnie. However, their biggest obstacle would be figuring out how to protect Winnie and keep her safe although she does not legally belong to them. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby was a great book! It is now one of my favorite Beckstrand books. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

Deaf from a young age, she’s positive a hearing man couldn’t understand the joys and trials of living in a silent world. But Gabe Fischer is certainly handsome, hardworking and brave. More importantly, he sees the real Esther. Might this Amish bachelor be her unexpected perfect match?

Book Review:

I was excited to read this book and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked. Someone to Trust by Patricia Davids was a wonderful book. Esther Brukholder was such a cool character. She had been deaf from a young age and she was positive that a hearing man wouldn’t understand. However Gabe Fischer is handsome, hardworking, and brave. And he seems to actually see Esther and not just deaf girl. Could this Amish bachelor be the one who steals her heart?

It was interesting to read a deaf Amish character. I have never quite read a book like this. I liked reading about Esther and Gabe as they fell in love. However there were obstacles standing in their way. Esther believed that a hearing man would never truly understand her and Gabe wasn’t looking for love. Esther was so strong. She did not let her deafness define her, but she was also proud of her deafness. I felt like it was a fine balance. However I am not deaf so I don’t really know anything on this subject.

I thought that Gabe was super nice. He loved his family and he was just doing his best to help them. I really enjoyed reading about his interaction with Esther. It was super sweet to read about them together. He cared about her from the beginning and it grew to love. However he would have to learn what it means for Esther to be deaf and how it would affect him.

Someone to Trust was a sweet and easy read. I liked the characters and I was drawn to the story. I would recommend it. Someone to Trust is a sweet, clean, Amish Love Inspired book.

Guest Post:

How do you realistically depict the Amish and their customs?

Well I hope I depict them realistically. I’ve tried to immerse myself in the culture. I’ve purchased
a number of reference books, connected with folks, both writers and ‘civilians’, who are either
Amish themselves or who have close ties to the Amish, I’ve subscribed to several Amish-
focused blogs, and I’ve utilized trusted readers/writers of Amish fiction to read parts of my
books. I really, REALLY wanted to make a couple of trips to Amish country to physically
immerse myself in the culture, but unfortunately, 2020 being what it is/was, I wasn’t able to
follow through on that.
I’m sure I’ve made mistakes, but I plan to learn from them and improve as I move forward.

Review:

Her Amish Wedding Quilt was such a cute and sweet book! I loved the characters and I will definitely read more of Winnie Griggs’s books. Her Amish Wedding Quilt it about Greta Eicher and Noah Stoll. Greta is spirited, impulsive and forthright, qualities no man wants in a wife. As she tries to be content with being a spinster, she offers to play matchmaker for Noah Stoll, a widower trying to care for his two children and balance his work. However, as Greta suggests women none of them seem to fit for Noah because unexpectedly his feelings of respect and friendship for Greta have grown into something even deeper and richer. But will he be able to overcome the pain of his path and perhaps form a relationship with Greta?

This was a really cute book! I thought that the premise was really intriguing and I loved the characters. Greta was a lot like me, impulsive and forthright, I really related to her. However, I also felt bad for her as she tried to navigate life knowing that she was different from other women and that no man would want her as a wife. She was strong, but she was kind and she really cared for Noah and his kids.

Noah was the strong silent kind of guy. He didn’t always express his feelings, but he was kind and thoughtful. I thought that he was a sweetheart and I really liked him. He cared for Greta from the beginning, but it took a little while for him to realize his feelings for her. He loved his children and he wanted the best for them. There were points where I wanted to shake him because he was trying to suppress his feelings for Greta. But everything worked out in the end.

Her Amish Wedding Quilt was a cute book. It was such a fun story, Greta started out as helping Noah find a wife but they end up falling in love instead. I adored the characters! I would definitely recommend Her Amish Wedding Quilt! I can’t wait to see what comes next in the series.

Book Review:

I have read quite a few romantic, suspense books, but I’ve never read an Amish, suspense one. I have to admit that I was a little bit thrown off because while there is crime everywhere, most of the Amish books I’ve read have been quite fluffy. Even though this was a new genre for me, I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first book I’ve read by Ms. Dana R. Lynn, and I will definitely be reading more by her.

Deadly Amish Reunion is the ninth book in the Amish Country Justice series. I’m not sure if this is a standalone series, but I have only read this book. And other than a really strong desire to read Aidan’s (Jennie’s brother’s) book, I was not at all confused. Jennie believed that her husband was dead, so she’s shocked when he saves her and their son. Luke has no memories of his Englischer wife, but he’s determined to protect her and his newfound son.

It was really sweet and hard to watch Jennie and Luke work things out. They did love each other, but they had no idea how to make it work. I loved how Ms. Lynn showed Luke falling in love with Jennie all over again, and Jennie falling for this older, more mature version of Luke. It was especially adorable because they had their son, L.J, to think about. I loved all of L.J.’s parts in the book. He was such a cute character, and it was sweet to see Luke step up to the plate. And while Luke’s family were understandably shocked, they were immediately open to helping Jennie and L.J.

The suspense also kept me guessing until the last minute. There were a lot of different players that I did not at all expect, and there were so many twists and turns in the book. The action never let up until the very end. There are some more mature themes though. Jennie was raped by her stepfather before, but it is not described at all. Also, Jennie sees someone kill another person, and there is quite a bit of shooting at and violence including someone getting beat up. However, the romance side is very clean, and Jennie and Luke really only kiss like twice. All in all just a wonderful, quick read that I would definitely recommend!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
