He had no intentions of marrying, especially not the girl next door.

Miss Sarah Brown is the insignificant daughter of an insignificant knight. With a small dowry and an unremarkable appearance, she has little hope of marrying better than a vicar or a solicitor. When her father announces that she is to have a London Season, she allows herself to hope for something more. Surely in the ballrooms of London, there is a gentleman of wealth who will make her a proper match. She need only to discover how to draw the gentleman’s attention to her. But that is not so easily done until her best friend comes up with a plan. Sarah simply needs to learn how to flirt. While it seems ridiculous, if it results in the desired match, it seems like a risk worth taking.

Reginald Thornbeck, the Earl of Stoke-on-Trent, has no plans of marrying. At least not anytime soon. He enjoys his life as a bachelor far too much. But as his sister’s guardian, he is responsible for presenting her at court and giving her a Season. Thankfully her best friend, Sarah, will be in London at the same time—allowing Reginald more time in the card room, and less time in the ballroom. But when Reginald learns of his sister’s idiotic plans to help Sarah woo a gentleman, he has no choice but to intervene.

As Reginald spends time instructing Sarah, he realizes that bachelorhood might not be as desirable as he previously thought. Now he must try to convince Sarah that she can set her sights higher than a vicar or a solicitor. But the task proves more difficult than he imagined.

Rebelling with the Bad Boy

About the Book:

Rebelling With the Bad Boy (Most Likely To Book 3) by [Sarah Sutton]

Title: Rebelling with the Bad Boy
Series: Most Likely to #3
Author: Sarah Sutton
Release Date: February 28th, 2023
Genre: YA

It’s on my birthday that I realize the past sixteen years of my life haven’t really been mine.
From my outfits to my hairstyles and even to my love life, my parents have control over all of it. And instead of fighting, I live by my mantra: keep my head down and keep my mouth shut.

Until I’m paired with Brentwood High’s resident bad boy, Hudson Bishop. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe him. Intimidating. Scary. Panic-inducing. There’s a reason the school calls him the Grim Reaper. And when our principal pairs us together for a “buddy program,” he makes it perfectly clear he doesn’t want to be stuck with a stiff like me.

But when I’m voted Most Likely To: Stay A Prude by the elite crowd of the school, suddenly Hudson Bishop is more than just a bad boy—he’s a way out from underneath my mother’s thumb. He’s a path to rebellion, and despite all of the warning bells going off in my head, I take it.

Book Review:

Oh my gosh! This book was just amazing. I have loved every single book in the Most Likely To series, and this one did not disappoint. I loved learning more about Gemma and the Grim Reaper.

Gemma was such a fascinating character. I loved her layers and how she was trying to find herself. In a lot of ways, she had been stuck in a box, so it was fun to watch her find her voice and find Hudson.

Hudson was such a sweetheart. I loved him so much! He was struggling through a lot with expectations about who he was supposed to be. I loved him with his little sister especially because we got to see his softer side. This one made my heart hurt a little though with his story and how poorly everyone treated him. There’s mentions of bullying in this one, and some innuendos. Also, Hudson’s friend is referred to as they/them.

Get ready for some twists and turns as well. The Top Tier and their parents are honestly kind of awful, and we get to see more high school drama. I think one thing that is a bit frustrating is there aren’t a lot of good adult figures. In the book, Gemma’s mom has a change of heart, but she was acting like a jerk in some parts. But she had a redemption in the end.

I would definitely recommend this book! I read it like a day, and I loved it so much. I can’t wait to see Landon and Lacey’s side of the story 🙂

Publisher: Silver Fountain Press
Release Date: March 27th, 2023
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance

The sweet memories of our relationship haunt me more than any fire I’ve ever fought.
Because she can’t remember any of it.

I thought my world was falling apart when Monica was in the car accident. Waiting desperately with her family in the hospital, I couldn’t let anyone see just how much I cared.

Our secret relationship meant my hidden torture as I waited for her to wake up. But when she finally did, the truth, was so much worse.

Thankfully, she’s healing perfectly fine–except she can’t remember the last six months.

Which means she still thinks we merely tolerate each other for her brother’s sake and are more inclined toward animosity than attraction.

She doesn’t remember our first kiss.
Or our first date.
Or our promises of forever.

No one else in town knew we were together, especially her brother–my best friend. And when I tried to tell her, she doesn’t even trust me enough to believe it.

But I’ll do everything I can to make her remember. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll just have to make her fall in love with me all over again. Even if it was nearly impossible the first time. I’ll be The One She Can’t Forget.

Book Review:

This book was just so good! I read it in a day! The One She Can’t Forget is the second book in Tara Grace Ericson’s Second Chance Fire Station series. I have been eagerly waiting for this book and it did not disappoint.

I loved Jake. He was such a wonderful character. I felt for him from the beginning and I wanted him to find his happiness. He was struggling because Monica forgot him and because he was still dealing with feelings of the past. His father had been a hard man and he was learning to forgive and find himself in Christ. Jake had to learn to trust God and what it looked like to love Monica I loved how full of life Jake was and how deeply he cared for Monica

Monica was a bit of a more complicated character. But she grew on me as I read more of the book. She was stubborn and strong and she was trying to put the pieces of her life back together. I did feel for Monica as she tried to figure out her memories and how to heal again. Monica had to learn to see Jake for who he truly was and learn that she couldn’t control everything.

It was sweet to read about Jake waiting on Monica and trying to win her. I loved reading about them falling in love. I liked the depth behind their friendship and romance, they truly got to know each other. The characters were of course lovely and the side characters were a lot of fun. Ericson is able to create a story that draws you in and I really enjoy how she effortlessly weaves faith into her stories.

The One She Can’t Forget was just so good! I would definitely recommend it! I can’t wait to read the next one. Ericson’s books just keep on getting better and better.

Genre: Historical Romance

Her social graces are lacking, his finances are in ruin, but together they can solve both their problems. As long as they don’t fall in love.

After years of escaping etiquette lessons in favor of the stables, Christine Devon’s grand debut in London is only weeks away. However, her deportment lacks the sophisticated polish she needs to achieve her father’s demands for a lofty marriage. Desperate to take her place in society, she needs someone to instruct her in proper behavior.
Thomas Gilbert, newly returned from Italy, has long dreamed of founding a horse farm. But during his time away, his estate’s finances have dwindled to almost nothing. Unless he finds a way to save his family from ruin, he will be forced to sell his horses and give up his dreams entirely.

A chance meeting between them may solve both their problems. Christine gains a tutor in the finer arts of polite behavior, while Thomas is given access to the finest equine bloodlines in England. But as time passes, the arrangement is less about their mutual need, and more about love. Will they see it in time, or will Christine leave Thomas behind for the splendor of London’s ballrooms?

The Social Tutor is the first novel in a sweet Regency romance series. Each novel is a stand-alone romance but, read in order, they are immensely satisfying.

Book Review:

I was so excited to read the re-release of this series! The now named Devoted Hearts series, was the first by Sally Britton that I read and the series that made me an avid reader of hers. The Social Tutor is the first in the series and even better the second read! This is an adorable start to the series and so bingable!

Christine Devon is determined to make a success of her Season. Her father has made it clear his expectations of a lofty marriage, but her lack of sophisticated polish makes her unprepared. Thomas Gilbert has just returned from Italy where he worked toward his dream of founding a horse farm. Now home to England, he finds his estate’s finances down to almost nothing. He has to find a way to save his family or sell his horses and give up his dream. A chance meeting may solve both their problems, as Christine gains a tutor for polite behavior and Thomas receivers access to the finest equine bloodlines in England. As time passes the arrangement begins to move from solving their problems to love. Will they see it in time?

Okay, this was even better than I remembered! I haven’t read this in a while and it was lovely! Christine was so sweet. She was a bit naive and really wanted her father’s approval. It was sweet to watch her relationship with Thomas grow. He helped her see how her future could be and what she really wanted for her life. I remember being a little anxious for her in my first read, but in this second read, I just found myself caught up in her narrative. Thomas was so sweet! He was such a gentleman. I loved his family and how they support one another.

This was a really easy read for me, I just flew through it. Christine and Thomas were so sweet and I was rooting for them from the beginning. Their growing relationship didn’t feel rushed at all. It was the perfect pick-me-up for the dreary winter weather. All of Ms. Britton’s books are comfort reads for me! I loved seeing all the characters being introduced and how the start of their arcs are developed. I am even more excited for the release of the upcoming books! This is a sweet historical romance with only kisses!

Needing the Next-Door Neighbor

About the Book:

Needing the Next-Door Neighbor: A Sweet Romantic Comedy (California Dreamin' Book 6) by [Kristin Canary]

Title: A Match in the Making
Series: California Dreamn’ #6
Author: Kristin Canary
Publisher: Dreaming of You
Release Date: March 27th, 2023
Genre: Closed Door Romantic Comedy

My next-door neighbor, Ryan Rosche, is pretty much the perfect guy.

He’s a freaking doctor, for one.

Humble…

Mature (Did I mention he’s eleven years older than me?) …

And flat-out gorgeous.

If only he wasn’t also … my boss.

Look, if I wasn’t the nanny to his nieces, I’d be all. over. that.

But I’m in the middle of a personal crisis of sorts—a recent move, a public breakup, a foiled career—not to mention beholden to a successful CEO grandmother who is withholding my trust fund until I can become “respectable” in a way my mother never was.

Falling for my boss—blurring those lines—is just the sort of thing my mother would have done.

And I refuse to be anything like Pippa Montgomery.

Besides, even if it was respectable to date my boss, a hot mess like me could never hope to land this guy whose life is 100% together.

Someone like him could never want someone like me. Not long term, anyway. And I’m tired of being discarded.

But when I move into Ryan’s house to make my job easier, and ignite the chemistry of late-night reality TV watching, meal sharing, and helping him raise his nieces, how am I supposed to resist the good doctor’s charms?

It seems inevitable. This man is just a heartbreak waiting to happen…

Fans of Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair will love this closed-door, age gap, forced proximity, boss/nanny romantic comedy with lots of sizzle and spice, but no on-page explicit content. It follows Kennedy Matkin, Alexis Matkin’s younger sister.

Book Review:

This was such a cute book! This is only my second Kristin Canary book, but it was adorable. I’ve only read the first book in the series, but I was still able to enjoy this one.

I loved Kennedy! I think her sweetness and openness was awesome. Even though it made her seem a bit naive in some ways, it really showed how strong of a person she was. She had been hurt over and over again, but she was still willing to open herself up. And I loved seeing her with Ryan’s nieces. It was sweet how she was able to connect with them and help them.

Ryan was such a sweetheart! Even though you don’t get to see his side of things, you could tell he was such a nice guy. While I always love the grumpy sunshine trope, it was fun to read a book with such a nice male character. He wasn’t a pushover in any way, but he was just a genuinely kind guy who wanted to help his nieces.

Ryan and Kennedy were so sweet together! They balanced each other and helped the other person relax. I love how they supported each other even though a lot of things weren’t easy. It was sweet to see them working so well together too. Because Kennedy was Ryan’s nanny in some ways it was like they were together before they were actually together.

I would definitely recommend this book! The side characters are lovely, and I love the sister relationship. It is a clean rom com with some innuendos.

Objection to Love

About the Book:

Objection to Love: A Sweet Romance Novel (Greenbank Romances Book 3) by [Karen Thornell]

Title: Objection to Love
Series: Greenbank Romances #3
Author: Karen Thornell
Release Date: March 2nd, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

One thing is for sure… law school was way easier than love.

September Miller has a ten-year plan for success, and it doesn’t include a personal life. So why does it hurt that her colleagues think she’s a bore and never invite her anywhere? And, more importantly, why is she enlisting her new next-door neighbor to fix that?

Garrett has barely moved in but somehow he’s already caught up in helping his neighbor learn how to have fun. It’s selfless of him and has absolutely nothing to do with finding the uptight lawyer attractive.

But maybe agreeing to spend every Saturday together wasn’t the best plan for either of them. September’s plans can’t be abandoned and there’s an expiration date on how long Garrett will be around. So what are they supposed to do when more than just Saturdays start to look appealing?
Objection to Love is a sweet romance with plenty of laughs and a happily ever after. It is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone.

Book Review:

I was so excited to read the next book in the Greenbank Romance series! We get Em’s book! I really enjoyed the first book and the novella, so it was fun to see all the characters again. This was such a sweet and cute story that felt so easy to read!

September Miller is working through her ten-year plan for success, which does not include a personal life. But why does it hurt when her colleagues think she is boring and never invite her to anything? And why is she asking her new next-door neighbor to help her fix it? Garret has just moved in, but has somehow found himself caught up helping his neighbor learn to have fun. It’s selfless of him and has absolutely nothing to do with finding the uptight lawyer attractive. Maybe spending every Saturday together was not the best plan for either of them, but Em isn’t giving up her plan just yet and Garrett’s only planning to be around for so long. What are they supposed to do when more than just Saturdays start to look appealing?

This was so fun! I read it pretty quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Em is super driven and focused. I feel like I was able to understand her desire to prove herself and I felt for her as she struggled with how others viewed her. She was trying so hard and was so determined. I loved seeing her get to relax and find how much she enjoyed spending time with Garrett. It was also sweet to get to see her relationship with April! It is always sweet to see the continuation of characters’ stories. I felt like Em learned a lot throughout the stories about understanding priorities for her life and what balance looks like for her, not her family or to prove herself.

Garrett was so sweet! I loved his optimism, his focus on appreciation of life, and the sunshine vibes he gave. It was fun to read about their Saturdays adventures!  I enjoyed their conversations and the ways they helped each other stretch.

This was a super cute clean romance, with only some kissing! It can be read as a standalone, but I think it is even better with context of the other books!

Cruise (Shipped)

About the Book:

Cruiseshipped: A small-town, forced-proximity, sweet romcom (Getting Shipped! Book 6) by [Savannah Scott]

Title: Cruise (Shipped)
Series: Getting Shipped #6
Author: Savannah Scott
Release Date: March 1st, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

If I’m going to be stuck with anyone, at least it’s a hot fireman with that smile I can’t seem to forget.

Brooks and I met three years ago when my best friend’s boyfriend held a party to propose to her in front of all their friends — in the middle of his goat farm.

Yes. You heard me. His goat farm.

When my eyes traveled across the driveway that night and landed on Brooks, I didn’t count to ten. I didn’t consult the saints. I took off at a casual pace, walking straight toward him. my hips swaying and my head held high. How could I not? Here in the middle of podunk Ohio stood the most captivating man I’d ever laid eyes on.

There’s one small problem. Brooks fights fires in a small midwestern town. I live in Boston with my family and all the culture and opportunities a big city has to offer. So, after the best weekend of my life, I returned home, single. And I put him out of my mind–mostly. At least I tried to.

But, now Brooks is here, on this cruise. And just like before, I can’t keep my eyes off him, especially when he’s singing the Ohio state theme song off-key, with hand motions, on the stage of the dueling pianos show. Or when he’s lounging by the ship’s pool in only his board shorts. Ay. Mami. Is it hot in the Caribbean, or is it just that fireman?

I need to pull it together before I make the worst mistake of my life–falling in love with a man who’s committed to living a thousand miles away from me.

Book Review:

I am in love with Savannah Scott’s books! They are so cute and fun, and I love the crazy seniors. This one was adorable as well, and we finally get to see Gabriela and Brooks’ HEA!

I loved getting to see more of Brooks’ character. He had always been the guy who followed the rule and did the right thing, and now, he was having a vacation fling with Gabby. It was fun to see him loosen up with Gabby and also open up to her. He had to decide what he wanted to do, and whether or not a relationship with Gabby is worth the risk.

I loved Gabby! She was such a fun character. Her no filter and vibrant personality totally worked with Brooks. It was fun to read about a character who was so fearless. And I loved her with Brooks. They balanced each other so well. He grounded her without clipping her wings.

The story in this one was so much fun! All the crazy seniors are back along with Chris. I loved Chris in this one by the way, and I cannot wait for his book. I have no idea who will fit with his personality, but he needs someone amazing!

I would definitely recommend this book and the whole series! It can be read stand-alone, but I think it’s much more fun to read as a series. It is a clean rom com perfect for a light, low stress read.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Faking it with the Grump

About the Book:

Faking It With the Grump: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy (Second Chance Café Book 1) by [Kate O'Keeffe]

Title: Faking it with the Grump
Series: Second Chance Cafe #1
Author: Kate O’Keefe
Release Date: March 14th, 2023
Genre: Romantic Comedy

He’s grumpy, boring, and thinks it’s okay to wear a suit and tie to a small town bar full of lumberjacks. But when I kiss him? Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting THAT.

Harper
It’s one thing to be dumped by the huge Hollywood star you thought you were going to marry. It’s quite another to move back to the small town you’re both from.

As a booby prize for being shown the door by Dex Ryder, everyone is trying to set me up with their son, their nephew, or their long-lost cousin’s gardener. Either that or they’re throwing me pitying looks that say, “You’re a big loser.”

I’m not going to put up with their patronizing sympathy anymore.

So, when I spot new-guy-in-town Christopher Young, I set out to make him mine. Or you know, pretend to make him mine. I’m still in a horrible funk over Dex, and Christopher is an uptight grump. Not exactly my type.

The fact that despite appearances, he’s gorgeous and doing weird things to my blood pressure doesn’t mean a thing.

Really.

Not. A. Thing.

Christopher
Hunter’s Creek, population next to nothing, is the reason I work all the time. I’m solely focused on buying the town’s lumber mill so I can go back to NYC and get my big promotion. This small town is a means to an end. Nothing more.

That is until the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen superglues her lips to mine in an unexpected and very public way. She’s not the kind of woman I usually go for with her boho dress and ankle boots, but that kiss…

I’m disappointed when she comes up for air and tells me it’s all for show. But if Harper Cole wants me to be her fake boyfriend while I’m here in town, who am I to turn her down? Being attached to a local might ingratiate me to the townsfolk and make my job that much the easier.

After all, dating Harper can only be make believe. Not when my entire future is at stake.

Book Review:

This was a fun and sweet read! Rom-coms are always enjoyable to read because they are generally light with some seriousness sprinkled in between. Faking it with the Grump is the first book in Kate O’Keefe’s new series, Second Chance Cafe

Harper and Christopher were such fun characters. They really complemented each other. I really liked seeing the growth of the characters. Harper learned from mistakes and really stood up for herself. I loved how Christopter pushed her to be better. Christopher was sweet and I loved how Harper helped him loosen up.

The romance was sweet and fun to read. It did feel a little fast, but I think there were some time skips so it fit. I wanted to see how Christopher and Harpher were going to end up together even with everything pulling them apart. The side characters were fun, the small town charm is always a wonderful addition. I am excited for the next book.

Faking it with the Grump is a great start to a new series. It is a clean romantic comedy set in a small town.

A Waltz with Traitors

About the Book:

A Waltz with Traitors by [A.L. Sowards]

Title: A Waltz with Traitors
Author: A.L. Sowards
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: March 14h, 2023
Genre: Historical Fiction

Czech soldier Filip Sedlák never wanted to fight for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. So at the first opportunity, he defected to the Russians. Now he and others like him have formed the Czechoslovak Legion. Their goal: leave the chaos of Russia, sail to France, and help the Allies defeat the Central Powers, thereby toppling a hated empire and winning an independent Czechoslovakia.

With the fall of the tsar, Nadia Linskaya’s life is in ruins. Her family is dead, her lands are confiscated, and her aristocratic world is gone forever. But Nadia is determined to elude the Bolshevik agent who destroyed her family and find a way to survive in this changed world.

When Nadia takes refuge with the Czechoslovak Legion, the last thing she expects is an ally. But when Filip proposes a sham marriage to ensure her safe passage across Siberia, she takes it. Neither Filip nor Nadia expect real love, not when the legion has to take over the longest railroad in the world—and then hold it against Bolshevik counterattacks, partisan sabotage, allied intrigue, and a set of brutal Siberian winters. At risk is the future of Czechoslovakia, the fate of Russia—and their hearts.

Book Review:

Wow, this was a stunning book! A Waltz with Traitors is written by A.L. Sowards and it is a historical fiction. I have to admit that it took me a little while to get into this book, but it was worth the effort.

The characters were engaging and I fell in love with Filip and Nadia. I loved getting to know both Filip and Nadia. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes so I was excited about that. They were such strong characters who had learned to overcome much. I was rooting for them as they fell in love. It was sweet to read about Filip and Nadia interacting.

The plot was very interesting. I was drawn into the war and the fight that Filip and Naida were facing. I didn’t know how this was going to end. I am not really a historical fiction type of person but this book was really good. I did have a harder time with the battles and such but I was still interested in the book.

A Waltz with Traitors is a historical romance. It does have a lighter romance but the characters were wonderful. I love the side characters and the family that they had created together.

Author: Jen Turano
Publisher: Bethany House Publishers

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Miss Gwendolyn Brinley accepted a temporary paid companion position for the Newport summer season, believing it would be a lark to spend the summer in America’s most exclusive town. She suddenly finds her summer turning anything but amusing when her employer expects her to take over responsibilities as an assistant matchmaker. Tasked with the daunting prospect of attaining advantageous matches for her clients, Gwendolyn soon finds herself in the employ of Mr. Walter Townsend, the catch of the Season, but a gentleman Gwendolyn finds beyond irritating.

Walter Townsend is reluctantly in search of a wife for the sake of his unruly motherless children who cannot keep a governess for long. What he wasn’t expecting was Miss Brinley, an amateur matchmaker who turns his quest for a new wife into a complete and utter debacle. Constantly besieged by society ladies on a mission to win his affection, Walter must find a way to overcome their inundating attention–and his unexpected attraction toward Gwendolyn.

The more time they spend together throughout the Newport Season, the harder it is for Gwendolyn to find Walter a wife when she realizes his perfect match might be . . . her.

Book Review:

This was such a cute book! I haven’t read a lot of historical fiction lately, so it was fun to jump back into this genre. And I love the romcom vibe that comes along with Turano’s books. It is a Regency read with some modern romcom influences that I adore.

I had a harder time getting into the story for this one, but once I started really reading, I was hooked. I loved the craziness of the Season, and Turano masterfully crafts some hilarious events. Regency ladies were savage, and I loved how Gwendolyn was unfazed by everything they did.

Gwendolyn was amazing! She won me from the beginning. I loved her practicalness and her calm through all the crazy. She knew her worth, and she wasn’t about to let anyone push her around. And her banter with just about everyone was so great, especially Walter!

Walter had to grow on me a little bit. He was convinced that his role in life was to be a good businessman, so he had neglected his children. I love how Gwendolyn changed him though and opened his eyes to see his responsibility was first and foremost to his kids. But he won me over eventually, and even though he was a bit clueless, he had a good heart. He wanted to do the right thing, but he wasn’t sure what the right thing was.

I loved his kids so much ! They were such terrors yet sweethearts all at the same time. Oscar was so adorable! I loved how much he cared for the twins, and it was sweet to see their connection with Gwendolyn from the beginning.

I would definitely recommend this book! It is perfect for anyone who loves historical fiction or rom coms. It is a super cute read with plenty of crazy shenanigans and adorable moments 🙂
