Welcome to the Blog + Review Blitz for A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins by Heidi Main, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins Author: Heidi Main Publisher: Love Inspired Release Date: October 25, 2022 Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
Returning to small-town Texas was her fresh start.
She never expected a ready-made family.
What could be better than running a rustic wedding venue? Event planner Laney Taylor has it all laid out…except for the serious renovations her inherited property needs. Rancher Ethan McCaw will help—but only if she’ll nanny his toddler twins. Laney’s all about planning weddings for others and shielding her own heart, but Ethan, Zoe and Tori might be just the ones to change her mind…
Ethan was a sweetheart! He had been through a lot, and he had a lot of trust issues. His ex wife had abandoned him, and he was just trying to cope. It was a bit frustrating at first because he opened his heart to Lacey and then closed it again. But I think that’s pretty realistic too because it’s hard to change your entire mindset in one day.
Lacey was going through a lot too. She had experienced a difficult childhood, and those wounds had stayed with her. It was sweet to watch her open up again to Ethan and the twins. I think while I understood where Lacey and Ethan came from I had a harder time connecting with them and getting into their characters.
I had similar troubles with the story. It was super sweet and a lot of fun. But I had a difficult time really getting into it.
However, I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves a cowboy romance! It’s an adorable read with clean, lighthearted romance!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for The Call of the Sea by Sian Ann Bessey, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
About the Book:
Title: The Call of the Sea Author: Sian Ann Bessey Publisher: Covenant Communications Release Date: November 1st, 2022 Genre: Inspirational Historical/Viking Romance
A Viking Historical Romance
On the eve of her betrothal to a nobleman she’s never met, Rhiannon seeks comfort on the shores of the sea she loves so well. But instead of offering peace to her uneasy heart, the ocean heralds doom with the arrival of dreaded Viking ships. A vicious raid leads to the death of her beloved father and leaves Rhiannon’s life in tatters. Heartbroken, she travels to Ynys Môn, where she takes up residence at the royal court of Owain Gwynedd.
Leif loves voyaging on the open water. As the son of a Viking chief, he’s accustomed to his people’s practice of plundering and looting. But when one of his companions ruthlessly kills an old man in front of the man’s beautiful daughter, Leif is haunted by the memory. Desperate to find forgiveness for the atrocity he allowed to occur, he’s offered a chance at redemption through the kindly teachings of an Irish priest and the unexpected arrival of a royal fugitive. Suddenly thrust into the midst of the Cymry’s political turmoil, Leif is reunited with the dead man’s daughter—Rhiannon. Forced to work side by side to uncover the truth behind the turmoil, they come to discover that love can grow from even the most tragic of beginnings. But with such incompatible backgrounds, surely a future together can never be theirs.
How did you choose the title of the book? The hero and the heroine both have a special connection to the sea. “The Call of the Sea” came to me as a way of expressing the emotions they were each feeling.
What made you want to write in this era? I love including lesser-known historical events in my books. I grew up in Wales and so setting a book based on an actual event that involved the Vikings in my homeland was exciting.
What kind of research did you have to do to write this book? It involved so much research. I did historical research on the Vikings, the Cymry, and the Irish, and specifically on the events that led to the rift between Owain Gwynedd and his brother.
How did you come up with the names of your characters? Many of the names are the actual names of the people who lived through this time in history. The other names are names that would have been used in that era by those of the different nationalities.
What was the hardest part of writing this book? The research, and meshing the real events with fictional characters.
Did you have a character that you related more to? There were aspects of both Rhiannon’s and Lief’s characters that I could relate to. I particularly related to their love of their homelands and their desires to be true to their hearts.
How do you deal with historical accuracy? The 1100s was a messy time in history. Historians do not all agree on the details of certain events and much remains unknown. Whenever possible, I read multiple sources to learn about specific events and everyday life. It was fascinating to learn more about this era.

Welcome to the Blog Tour for The Christmas Switch by Zoey Marie Jackson, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: The Christmas Switch Author: Zoey Marie Jackson Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Release Date: October 25th, 2022 Genre: Contemporary Inspirational Romance
Keeping this secret gets complicated
with the family she wished for right next door.
Swapping places with her identical twin over the holidays sounds easy enough to Chanel Houston. But playing the role is trickier than expected when it comes to maintaining frosty relations with her sister’s neighbor and nemesis—especially since he has an adorable little girl and a rowdy puppy. Ryder Frost’s supposed to be grumpy and rude…so why does Chanel find the single dad so irresistible?
Book ideas for myself and probably for many others come as a result of a ‘what if-then situation that we think about and could be a result of blending things that we love or have experienced. In this case, it was a blend of concepts and things that I like to craft the idea for The Christmas Switch.
Being a twin myself, I absolutely love reading about twins, and I have always tried to incorporate twins in my stories. For my first book for Love Inspired, I wrote about a set of five-year-old matchmaking twins. I knew I wanted to do the same again but I wanted to add a little intrigue, put a twist on it. That’s when the idea came to have these twins switch places. This is understandable in the younger years so I had to think on the concept of what would cause adult twins to switch places.
Fortunately, I was working with a great editor for the line who helped me formulate the reason for the switch. Adult twins might switch places if one was in danger. Next, a book trope that is almost always a guaranteed read for me is the neighbor-next-door. So, I put the hero next door. To further add to the fun, one of the most enjoyable tropes for readers is the enemies-to-lovers.
That’s when the light bulb went off and the concept materialized. What if I had twins who switched places and that twin falls in love with the neighbor next door whom her sister dislikes. The editor loved that idea so I began working on the characters and crafting their story. Because of the timeline of when the book would be written and delivered, I was asked if I could make it a Christmas story. If you blend all these, you have The Christmas Switch.
Finally, while writing this, I was and still am going through a tough personal experience. God ministered to me while writing and I then shared that through my story. I hope it entertains and blesses at the same time!
Book Review:
I am a sucker for Christmas romances! And right now the weather’s getting a little colder, so I can start to dream of Christmas. And this was just an adorable book with all the Christmas magic.
Chanel’s life just got a lot more complicated. When her twin sister begs her to switch places, she agrees even though her hometown is filled with too many painful memories. But what happens when her sister’s annoying neighbor turns out to be a single dad with an adorable little girl? Chanel’s heart is getting attached with Ryder and his daughter Gabby even though their whole foundation is a lie.
Okay, I realized that this synopsis sounds super dramatic, but this book was actually pretty low stress. And Chanel is switching with her sister, Cara, because Cara is involved in an FBI investigation. Can I just say that explanation made me sigh in relief! I feel like lying in a relationship is a very bad move, so I loved that Chanel actually had a reasonable explanation. It made me love this story a little bit more!
Chanel was going through a lot, and she had a ton of past trauma she needed to work through. It was sweet to watch her with Ryder and Gabby, and they both helped her work through her painful past. I loved how she was with Gabby. And it was refreshing to have a more gentle female protagonist. I think a lot of female protagonists now are sassy, quick witted warrior queens, and I love those characters. But it’s refreshing to have a different kind of heroine.
Ryder was a sweetheart. Honestly, it was so cute to watch him with Gabby, and he was trying so hard to be a good dad. He also had a lot of past pain to work through, and it was cool to see him and Chanel help each other. They were both a little broken, and they helped bind each other up.
This was low stress, sweet read. I sometimes had a hard time really getting into it, but it was still really cute! The ending was a bit fast paced which was surprising because the romance was definitely a slow burn. However, I think the slow burn romance really worked for these characters because they were both more cautious in nature.
I would totally recommend this clean, Christian read to anyone who loves a Christmas romance!

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for The Danger with Diamonds by Traci Hunter Abramson & Sian Ann Bessey, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
About the Book:
Title: The Danger with Diamonds Series: Falcon Point Suspense #1 Author: Sian Ann Bessey and Traci Hunter Abramson Publisher: Covenant Communications Release Date: October 11th, 2022 Genre: Clean & Wholesome Romantic Suspense
Some secrets are worth keeping. Others are not.
When Lars Hendriks arranges to meet Marit Jansen in Vienna, he is hoping their friendship will blossom into romance. What he doesn’t expect is a surprise visit from his cousin Cole or the loose diamonds he brings with him.
As a CIA operative, Cole Bridger is used to uncertainty, but when his work takes him back to Vienna, he looks forward to reconnecting with Isabelle Roberts, the fellow agent he dated briefly before duty took him away from Austria. Unfortunately, his silence over the last few months has created a chasm that he can’t cross without help. He barely takes a step toward repairing the damaged relationship when a brazen jewel heist seemingly links Cole, Lars, Marit, and Isabelle to the crime. The group is drawn into a deadly mystery, and once again, the treasures of Falcon Point are threatened. It doesn’t take long for them to realize they have stumbled upon something far bigger and more dangerous than a simple robbery. And someone on the inside knows it.
We really came up with the idea for The Danger with Diamonds while we were still working on The Heirs of Falcon Point. Both of us knew that our characters had more stories to tell, and it didn’t take long for the basic plot to take shape.
How did you choose the title of the book?
We offered several title suggestions to our publisher, but Sian came up with this one based on the diamonds that are integral to the plot and the danger that follows them.
How did you co write this book?
We wrote together using a Google.doc with the basic idea of what the first couple scenes would look like. Then each day Traci would write a scene or two in the morning. When Sian woke up (she is in a time zone two hours behind Traci), she would then work on her scene. Often when Traci would wake up, Sian would have another scene waiting for her. Every 8 to 10 scenes, we would have a zoom call to plan out the next portion of the book.
What was the hardest part of writing this book?
Sian will tell you it was getting Traci to help figure out the bad guy. Traci will tell you it was trying to figure out the bad guy. This is what happens when two discovery writers come together, and one (Traci) has absolutely no idea what is going to happen next.
How much research did you need to do in order to write this book?
Traci’s CIA background saved us hours of research into the ins-and-outs of law enforcement. There were a few times when we felt it necessary to check on specific protocols, but for the most part, her knowledge borne of experience was our best resource. Having grown up in Wales, Sian’s European upbringing helped make our European characters more authentic. We have both visited Vienna, which helped us as we decided on locations for various scenes. Our most time-consuming research involved uncovering small details like: When does the Christmas Market at Stephansplatz open? Which U-bahn lines run underground? What are the toppings offered at a typical doner stand?
Do you like writing the romance or suspense parts better?
We both find romantic and suspense scenes challenging to write. The suspense build up is not as difficult as a fight scene. And the increase in romantic tension is not as difficult as a kissing scene. Given a choice, we’d both avoid writing fight scenes and kissing scenes completely if we could.
Where do you get the ideas for your characters?
The main characters in The Danger with Diamonds originally appeared in Heirs of Falcon Point. Lars and Cole are cousins who only recently learned of each other’s existence. Neither of them has brothers, and it was really fun to develop a brother-like relationship between them. Isabelle and Marit, our primary female characters in this book, also had cameo appearances in Heirs of Falcon Point, but we really enjoyed fleshing out their characters and allowing their individual strengths to shine. Most of our characters are a blending of people we know and people we’ve observed over the years.
How do you write relatable characters?
No one is perfect, including fictional characters, but at their core, our heroes and heroines are good people trying to do the right thing. We enjoy using humor to endear our characters to readers. We also show our characters making mistakes, overcoming difficult things, and trying to improve. Ultimately, when readers finish one of our books, we’d like them to feel a bond with the characters and be glad for the time they spent with them.

We are excited to share a guest post from Kate Angelo the author of Driving Force. 🙂
As a genre, romantic suspense lends itself to a complex story with exciting plot twists and deep character development I find captivating. It’s one of my favorite genres to read and write because I’m fascinated how deeply wounded characters set aside their differences and work together under extreme pressure to bring down a villain. When writing romantic suspense, I explore ways my character’s past affects how they approach the external plot. Will she run into danger, or bury her head and hide? Will he take the lead, or will he step back and allow the heroine to guide them? Motivation mingled with the life experiences and personality of the character will dictate their response and it’s a challenge to write. But by the end, two imperfect people become enlightened and discover the internal obstacles holding them back from their greatest desires which leads us to their happily ever after—and that perfect kiss!
Besides digging into the characters, romantic suspense adds a level of tension you may not find in other thriller and suspense novels. Two imperfect people juggling life and their own hindrances is one thing but throw in the need to survive or save lives and now we’re really cranking up the pressure. Personally, I love reading books with smart villains whose motivation is something greater than evil for the sake of evil. Add some bleeding edge technology or scientific research and I’m all in!
Recently, I wrote a romantic suspense novel with a phytologist heroine. If you’re unsure what a phytologist is, you’re not alone. After all, how many times have you found yourself discussing algae with others? Oddly enough, I have! While drafting the novel, I went to lunch with a group of friends and met a scientist who is a botanist, psychologist, and phytologist. I’ll admit, for the first time in my life I was excited to discuss algae! I was able to share some new research in an area he was passionate about and chat for hours about the live saving properties of this new type of algae.
Bringing the reader along for an investigation is another element of romantic suspense I love. Even if I know who the villain is, I’m intrigued by the motivation behind the evil and learning the secrets they keep. I want a villain with a wound so deep it drives them to hurt others. It sounds terrible, but I suppose it’s because I like a hint of psychological thriller in my suspense novels.
In the end, I believe I chose to write romantic suspense because I like layering in complexity and digging deep to deliver a story that keeps you on your toes, not only because lives are at risk, but because the reader is in suspense over whether two flawed characters can overcome their issues and find their happily ever after. Oh…and because I’m a huge nerd and I get to delve deep into researching psychology, phytology, biochemical engineering, and all the other sciences!

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for The Forever Farmhouseby Lee Tobin McClain, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
About the Book:
Title: The Forever Farmhouse Series: Hometown Brothers #1 Author: Lee Tobin McClain Publisher: HQN Books Release Date: September 6th, 2022 Genre: Sweet Contemporary Romance
A Chesapeake island homecoming—and a life-changing discovery
When Ryan Hastings first came to Teaberry Island, he was a troubled teen on his last chance. He’s returning as a renowned scientist, checking in on his widowed foster mother. But one thing hasn’t changed—Ryan’s feelings for the girl next door whom he loved…and left. Mellie Anderson has a son now, and a good life that Ryan believes he’s still too damaged to share. But he knows he can help young Alfie, who’s getting picked on at his new school.
Mellie is grateful her gifted son is getting extra support, and torn about where it’s coming from. Ryan has no idea he’s Alfie’s father. No matter how valid her reasons were, could Ryan ever understand why she didn’t tell him? But in this close-knit community, friendship and forgiveness are always near at hand, and forever love might be waiting just next door.
I’m a huge fan of small town stories. I think they’re adorable, and I love the community aspect of them. And this is a sweet small town second chance story. It was more intense than I was expecting, but it was still really cute!
I loved Ryan! He was such a sweetheart, and I felt so bad for him as you learned more about his past. He was a foster kid who had an abusive stepfather. McClain doesn’t give a lot of details, but he was beaten often and shoved into dark spaces for hours upon end. Even though he has a huge heart, he thinks he’s emotionally damaged. He believes he can’t do relationships, yet Mellie and Alfie make him want to try.
Mellie was struggling, and she didn’t know what to do. She wanted to protect her son, but she also wanted to protect herself. She didn’t want to get hurt again. Mellie was definitely a caretaker and a sweet character. I felt like she was understandable, so I didn’t end up resenting her for not telling Ryan about Alfie.
Alfie was so much fun! I love books with kids in them, but I feel like generally they’re a lot younger. Alfie is ten and incredibly smart, so he added a different flavor to the book. It was sweet to watch him bond with Ryan. He also adored Betty, Ryan’s foster mom. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Betty honestly. I understood her grief, but there were many times when it felt like she was acting like a 20 year old.
I think this is a cute romance about the importance of second chances. It was a bit more drama filled than I was expecting, but it was still really good! There is one moment where Alfie flips off his mom, but otherwise this is a clean read. I would recommend it for fans of romantic dramas 🙂
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: Picture Imperfect
Series: Roseville Romances #1
Author: Alyssa Roat & Hope Bolinger
Publisher: Mountain Brook Ink
Release Date: November 5, 2021
Genre: Christian, Contemporary Romance
Can a struggling career woman and a procrastinating artist save a beloved nonprofit?
Aspiring novelist Caroline Penn expected a promotion, not a picture book assignment. But when her employer, the non-profit Helping Hope, runs into financial trouble, this book might be the solution. With the company struggling to stay afloat, she and the illustrator will need to collaborate on a strict deadline—no problem for a workaholic like Caroline, right?
Andy Jackson, a “starving” artist, pays the bills by taking on graphic design gigs, but his perfectionism gets in the way. If only he could focus on a project for once, perhaps he could achieve his dream to make art for children for a living.
When the two are thrust together to create a book, Caroline can’t seem to write for children, and Andy can’t meet a deadline to save his life. As time ticks down to release day, the two must face their pasts and insecurities. If they can avoid strangling one another for long enough, they may just bring to the table what the other is missing.
If not, the fate of their careers—and a beloved nonprofit—hangs in the balance.
Hope: So I’ve technically always been writing. I used to write six-page stories that I would give to my first-grade teacher to hang up on her wall. But as far as novel writing goes, I had a friend in high school who wrote novels. I thought this friend was crazy. So in good friendly rivalry, I decided to give it a go myself. I haven’t looked back since.
How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Hope: Alyssa and I had talked about how we wished we saw more books that featured people like us—people in our twenties struggling to justify being in a creative field. We’d experienced massive burnout from doing, at one point, seven jobs apiece, to support our passion for publishing. We wanted characters who reflected those same struggles and the same hope we had that one day it would all be worth it.
How did you choose the title Picture Imperfect
Hope: One of our characters struggles with perfectionism. We wanted to show that just because something isn’t picture perfect doesn’t mean it isn’t worth pursuing.
What was the hardest part about writing this book?
Hope: Alyssa and I hadn’t written in the genre before, so it was definitely a steep learning curve. People say “Oh, well, writing romance would be so easy,” but in adult romance, you have to hit certain beats at just the right time. In some ways, it’s a lot harder to write than the usual young adult genres that we’re known to dabble in.
What do you want readers to take away from reading this book?
Hope: We really want them to take away a couple of things. First, we want them to rekindle their passions for their dreams. We had an ARC reader tell us that she’d given up on writing, but that this book gave her the hope and push to start again. Secondly, we hope to show the realities of burnout and perfectionism and how it often plagues creatives, especially those in their 20s. Finally, we want readers to walk away from the story filled with hope.
Which was your favorite character? Is it the one you most related to?
Hope: It’s so hard to say, because this book sets up the trajectory for several more romances between supporting characters. I will say, in this story alone, I really appreciated Andy—and not just because I wrote him. He has a great deal to overcome in terms of perfectionism. I’m actually a lot more like Caroline—meeting deadlines early, taking on as much work as possible. But Andy taught me the importance of slowing down.
Are you a pantser or plotter? How did this tendency show up with this book?
Hope: So funnily enough I’m a plotter, and Alyssa is a pantser. So often when we coauthor, we’ll do some hybrid of the two. Romance, however, strictly requires plotting. So we operated off of an outline in this. That’s not to say that we didn’t deviate off of it. Our characters often have a mind of their own.

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for With Every Breath by Natasha D. Frazier, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: With Every Breath
Series: McCall Family #1
Author: Natasha D. Frazier
Publisher: Encouraging Works
Release Date: October 5, 2021
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance
She has nothing to lose, but loving her could cost him everything. Is he willing to risk it all a second time around when she has less than thirty days to live?
Renowned motivational speaker Nina Marie Robinson has received a grim prognosis. With the little time she has left, she’s giving one last commencement speech at her alma mater Jackson State University and taking a well-deserved vacation to the Bahamas. Nina is also determined to show her college sweetheart she’s still in love with him, but can she convince him to drop everything and board that plane with her?
Andrew McCall is one step away from being promoted to professor at Jackson State University. If anything goes wrong, Andrew will find himself in the last place he wants to be—chief executive officer of McCall Resorts as his father’s successor. When Nina comes to town and requests that he accompany her to the Bahamas, will he have to choose between the woman he’s always loved and everything he’s worked for?
I love second chance romances! I had a general idea about writing a second chance romance with college sweethearts that would reunite on a vacation, but hadn’t quite come up with how it would happen. Earlier this year, I experienced sudden onsets of dizziness. At times, it felt like I was dying when the room would spin and I hadn’t moved from my seat or bed. Scary thought! My doctor diagnosed me with vertigo and prescribed medicine and exercises for the dizziness.
After that, it hit me!
Boom!
I amped it up a thousand and put my main character, Nina, in a situation where she had to determine what was most important to her and decide what to do about it. Then, With Every Breath, was born.
Sometimes we live like we have a limitless amount of time, but when faced with the reality of our mortality, we change, and that’s what happens to Nina. That’s also what I’d like readers to know after reading this book. Our time on earth is limited. If you love someone, tell them. Share your love and the beauty that is you with the world while you still can. And remember, above all else, that God loves you and is always with you. You are called for His purpose.

Genre: Christian Romance, Contemporary Romance, Young Adult, Music Fiction
Violinist Victoria Pearson dreams of attending Johann Conservatory of Music in New York City for graduate school. As the oldest of five sisters, she hopes to escape her Midwestern college town and hectic family situation to fulfill her passion in life—music. But when she decides to participate in Belton University’s Concerto competition to bolster her chances of acceptance, Victoria finds herself competing against her sister Adrienne and lifelong cellist friend Jerry Chang. This sets in motion a rivalry that questions the roles of sisterhood, friendship, and maybe love.
Victoria wants to maintain the rigors required of a professional classical musician without losing her family and friends, not to mention her sanity, in the process. The demands of her large family might hinder her ability to achieve her dreams. What sacrifices will she make to reach her goals, and are they worth the cost?
A new, twenty-first-century generation of little women takes the stage in A Change in Tune.
This was a fun book, and it painted a beautiful portrait of music, romance, and sisterhood. This drew on books like Pride and Prejudice, with the Bennet sisters, and Little Women, with the March sisters. I have sisters of my own, so I love to read books about them. While these sisters had more challenges in their relationship, I did enjoy watching them interact.
Violinist Victoria Pearson’s dream is to be admitted into the Johann Conservatory of Music in New York City for graduate school. She can’t wait to be away from her hectic family of five girls and finally fulfill her passion in her life, music. But as problems with family, friends, and her music arise, she’ll have to ask herself what sacrifices will she make for music and is it worth it?
Victoria was an interesting character. While there were times that I didn’t really like her, I did understand her. Her passion for music was super admirable, and reading about music from her perspective was beautiful! I could feel the music impacting her. I was a little bit disappointed in her relationship with Adrienne, her sister, though. There were times when they were so unkind to each other that it just made me sad. However, I understood the need for it in the storyline, and I know that some sisters have that kind of tumultuous relationship.
Jerry was a total sweetheart! I loved how kind and caring he was. His parents wanted him to pursue medical school instead of being a musician. He was trying so hard to obey his parents, but he had to learn how to stand up for himself. I loved how complex his mother’s character was as she strived to protect her son. She didn’t want him to have the mental and financial problems that come from being a musician.
I don’t know a lot about the life of a musician, so it was interesting to learn about some of the mental health issues they face. It was definitely heartbreaking to read about it, and there are mentions of sucide, racism, and drugs. It was all brief though, and the author always pointed out that this type of behavior is not healthy. So this book is probably for teenagers and up.
There were some slow parts, but I enjoyed reading about the struggles and joys of being a musician. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves music!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review
