Once upon a dream, two cursed people fell in love . . .

Tansy White doesn’t want to end up alone like her three aunts who raised her, but when she is betrayed by her would-be betrothed, she fears she might never change her fate. At her aunts’ suggestion, she seizes the chance to visit Rose Cottage, the country home of her late mother. For years, dreams of the cottage have haunted Tansy, and she is convinced it holds the answer to her hidden past. But after getting caught in a terrible storm, she meets a man who is just as determined as she is to learn all her secrets.

Marcus Taylor, brother to the Duke of Westmorland, is also troubled by vivid dreams. On a sleepless night, as a tempest rages outside his brother’s estate, he makes a discovery far more mysterious than any dream: a young woman, cold as ice, lies unconscious in the library, and he is sure she is the key to solving his problems. When she wakes, what begins as a shared quest for information turns into an unexpected friendship. As they piece together the fragments of their pasts, they discover a tangled web of lies, and their feelings for each other become just as entwined. But is their love as strong as their dreams . . . or their fate?

Book Review:

Wow! This book was just stunning and full of twists and turns! I am in awe. I have to admit that it took me a bit to get into the book but once I really got into it, I was hooked. The Dreaming Beauty is a sequel to Anneka R Walker’s book, The Masked Baron. The Dreaming Beauty is a regency book inspired by Sleeping Beauty

Tansy was an interesting character. I am honestly not quite sure how I feel about her. She was stubborn, but she was also looking for love. She was searching for the answers to her dreams and trying to find herself. Tansy grew a lot in this book. She learned to stand up for herself and also that happy endings could happen.

Marcus was lovely. I really liked him in this book and I enjoyed reading about him. He worked hard to be a good man and help his brother. I loved how Marcus cared for the people under him and around him. But Marcus was also still learning how to let people in and how to fight for what he believed in. There were also secrets of his pasts that would come back to haunt him.

Marcus and Tansy were cute together. They were able to help each other be the best. They each had their own issues to deal with, but it was sweet to read about them connecting. However, they had to fight for each other because there were a lot of obstacles and secrets standing in their way.

The plot was really interesting and engaging. It started off slower but as I kept on reading, I was soon drawn in. I was amazed by everything that was going on and on the edge of myseat to find out what was going to happen. I also really enjoyed Marcus’ brother, Simon. He was a fun addition to the story, I hope that he gets his own book.

The Dreaming Beauty was a really fun book! I would definitely recommend it! The Dreaming Beauty is a clean regency romance

Tommy and Mary and the Twelve Days of Christmas

About the Book:

Tommy & Merry and the Twelve Days of Christmas : Small Town, Feel Good Romantic Comedy (The Costa Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance Series Book 1) by [Ellie Hall]

Title: Tommy and Mary and the Twelve Days of Christmas
Series: The Costa Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance #1
Author: Ellie Hall
Release Date: July 15th, 2022
Genre: Romantic Comedy

No matter which way you slice it, pizza and pie are delicious, but love is complicated.

My lifelong dream is to open a pie shop in my hometown. But because I’m flat broke, to defray the liability, the leasing agent insists I go into business with what’s sure to be a pimply pizza boy.

Problem 1: He’s more like an Italian Stallion. Problem 2: That tossing action really builds the biceps. Is it hot in here? I’ll blame it on the oven. Problem 3: I knew Tommy in college and he still bakes my buns.

To reunite my family, I’m opening a pizza place. The catch is I have to share the space with a pie baker. Not going to happen. As a former fireman, I’m all about teamwork, but I’m not sharing the dough.

Problem 1: Back in college, as a joke, we made a marriage pact. Problem 2: Like a pair of responsible adults, we agreed not to mix business and pleasure. Problem 3: Ten years later, Merry is still a cutie pie.

With a flurry of orders, twelve families in need, and a pie thief on the loose, it’s hard to know if we can crust each other. Trust. That was supposed to be trust each other. I’ve got pie (and Tommy) on my mind…and heart.

Actually, those are the least of our problems. With only twelve days until Christmas, we have to prove to the building owner that we’re the best business for the spot or risk losing it to a chain coffee shop…and with all the pressure and stress, we also risk losing each other.

Book Review:

This was such a cute book! It’s only slightly longer than a novella, but it was so much fun. I love the banter between siblings, and I cannot wait for the next books!

Merry hasn’t seen her college best friend( and secret love) in years, but now, they’re running a business together. She’s always dreamed of opening up a pie bakery, but how is she supposed to work with the man she’s in love with? Tommy Costa feels lost after he’s forced to resign from being a firefighter. But one thing he always knows how to do is rally his siblings. When his parents need help, he jumps to the challenge and starts a pizza and pie shop with his former and maybe current crush. Can Tommy control his feelings about Merry and does he even want to?

Merry is so relatable! I loved her awkwardness, and I totally understood her as she tried to step out of her comfort zone. She’s been hurt a lot over the years, and I love how Tommy protects her and helps her. He combats all her negative self-talk and helps her see how wonderful she is.

Tommy is so cute! I love his siblings and all their awesome banter. They felt really real! I also appreciated how he didn’t beat around the bush. He realized that he was in love with Merry, and he was mature enough to admit it and fight for her.

Tommy and Merry’s relationship was pretty fast, but it made sense because they had known and loved each other in college. I think I would have liked to see them talk about how they’ve changed since college. But this is shorter than a regular novel, so I understand why it wasn’t added as much.

This was a sweet and funny romcom! Some of the resolutions felt a little forced, but I generally give romcoms a little more grace. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves hilarious siblings stories and adorable romances!

When startling developments begin to take place, both within Isabelle’s heart and their siblings’ relationship, her future looks very different than anything she could have imagined.

Book Review:

This was a sweet book about family and learning to trust God. A Feeling of Home is the third book in Susan Anne Mason’s Redemption’s Light series. I was excited to read this book, and it was a lovely read.

I had a harder time connecting with Isabelle. There were times where she felt a bit childish and selfish, but as the book went on I learned to understand her. Isabelle Wardrop’s life had changed so suddenly. She lost her parents, her home, and her fortune. She was doing all she could to survive and care for her younger sister, Marissa. Isabelle was trying her best and it was sweet to read about her trying to provide for her sister. Isabelle grew a lot as she learned to work hard and to trust God. However sometimes surprises come and Isabelle will have to learn to rest in God’s plans and protection.

Mark was a kind guy. He was a doctor and he just wanted to help others. Mark was also an interesting character. He was trying his best to raise his younger brother but it was not always easy. Mark had to wrestle with himself and his younger brother, Josh at times. However, I loved how Mark strived to be kind and understanding. He had to learn though to give Josh to God and let go of the control he so desperately craved. He also had to learn that God was faithful no matter what.

Mark and Isabelle both had their faults, but they were able to balance each other out. The romance was sweet, and I liked the progression of it. There were times where it felt a bit fast but I think that it fit the book. I also liked how this book didn’t just focus on romance but also on trusting God and helping to care for unwed mothers. There were many wonderful themes that this book pointed to.

The characters in these stories had faults and made mistakes but God was faithful. It was wonderful to read of the characters growing and trusting God. A Feeling of Home is a great book. It is best read in its series but it can be read standalone. I would recommend it to those who enjoy Christian historical romance. A Feeling of Home is a Christian historical romance.

Check Mate

About the Book:

Check Mate : A Sweet Enemies to Lovers RomCom (Under Kansas Skies Book 3) by [Leah Brunner]

Title: Check Mate
Series: Under Kansas Skies #3
Author: Leah Brunner
Release Date: July 1st, 2022
Genre: Contemporary Romance

How did I find myself sharing a tent with my obnoxious—albeit gorgeous—neighbor, Isabella Romero?

It all started with a stupid bet.

All I had to do in order to win was something unpredictable. (Which my brother thought was impossible for the ever-boring David Windell).

Well, I showed him… by booking a trek in the Andes Mountains to see Machu Picchu.

When the brochure for the expedition mysteriously appeared on my front porch, along with Isabella’s cat who doesn’t have boundaries, it was like fate interceded: I could win the bet while simultaneously getting a vacation from my irritating neighbor.

Two birds, one stone.

Except, it turns out that was Isabella’s brochure… and she booked the same trip.

So here I am, stuck sharing a tent with the woman who drives me crazy—and makes my heart race like never before.

This is book three in the Under Kansas Skies Series, but can be read as a standalone. Check mate is a dual POV, closed-door romcom. It contains mild language and innuendo.

Book Review

Opposites attract, in Checkmate, the latest in the Under Kansas Skies series. David is perfectly happy with his organized and contained life. Everything is great, except for his neighbor. She is nice enough, but her yard is a mess and she seems determined to push his buttons. Well, at least this bet with his brother to break him out of his comfort zone will give him some space. Isabella is doing her best to balance her mother’s expectations that she will take over the family restaurant and her own dreams of taking her travel blog full-time. Her grumpy and uptight neighbor is not helping. At least her latest trip will give her a few days free from all of that. But when Daivd and Isabella find themselves on the same trip to the Andes, they will have to reconsider their plans.

I love romance series where character’s stories are set up throughout the series. We get to see David in the earlier books and even hints of his story. It was fun to see his organized routine. He liked his regular schedule and his predictable life. Yet, he also felt a bit stuck. The bet pushed him out of his comfort zone and Isa did too. Isa was a free-spirit. I loved her connection with her family, especially her sisters. They seemed to really like one another which was sweet. All of the family relationships in this were really nice to read about. Even though they did not always understand one another and got on one another’s nerves, they still did their best to love and take care of each other. Isa and David’s adventure in Peru was also really fun to read about and I loved the side characters that we also got to meet!

Overall, this was such a sweet book! There is a little bit of tension in the beginning, but nothing too embarrassing or angsty. I thought the romance was so cute and I loved the inclusion of their families! This is a clean romance with some innuendos. It is part of a series and can be read as a standalone, but I think it is better to be read with the other books.

As he resumes his search for the chalice and puts his life in jeopardy, Karina makes the ultimate sacrifice for him. Will he have the chance to love her in return before it’s too late?

Book Review:

This book was just amazing! I don’t know how Hedlund does it, but these books just keep on getting better and better! I love reading the marriage of convenience troops and this book had a great one. Enriched is the fourth book in Jody Hedlund’s Knights of Brethren series and it was just so good!

Karina was such an amazing character! She worked hard to care for others and she really wanted to make her family proud. I really enjoyed reading about Karina especially as she got to know Torvald. Although it was a marriage of convenience, Karina fell hard and fast. She really cared for Torvald and she wanted to love him as best she could. However Karina was also scared of being a burden and she never wanted to burden her new husband.

Oh, Torvald, he had a lot to work on. He was afraid to love because of how it had crippled his father. He never wanted to become a person who falls apart because of love. But Karina had a way of working her way past his walls. Torvlad was trying to protect his heart, but Karina was kinder than he could have imagined. He found himself longing to protect her and keep her safe. It was cute to read about him falling for Karina. Torvlad had to decide if he was willing to risk his heart for his wife or if he would close himself off forever.

Karina and Torvald’s romance was so sweet. They made each other better. I really enjoyed reading about them falling in love and seeing them connect. They were able to be open with each other. I also loved how they both sought to seek God’s guidance and help. They wanted to honor God through their actions.

The plot was also really exciting. I didn’t know how Karina and Torvlad were going to make their marriage work while searching for the Holy Grail. I was on the edge of my seat, cheering for the characters. It was also fun to see some of the other knights again.

I loved everything about Enriched and I am even more excited for the next books. The writing is amazing and the covers are stunning.  I am excited to see how the series will end! Enriched is definitely the most read. The characters are engaging and the story draws you in. I read this book in one day! Enriched is a clean medieval YA novel.

Feel the Rhythm

About the Book:

Feel the Rhythm: A Sweet Romantic Comedy (Canyon Cove Love Stories Book 2) by [Marie Soleil]

Title: Feel the Rhythm
Series: Canyon Cove Love Stories #2
Author: Marie Soleil
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: July 5th, 2022
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Moving back home at 27 was not in my original plan. But after the car accident that completely upended my family’s life, I just had to be there for them.

I can’t complain, though. They let me blast Britney Spears’s greatest hits while making dinner, and they still respect my freedom as an adult. I can even meet up with my secret guy friend without any questions. No one can know about him, especially not my best friend. If she ever found out, she’d say “Bye Bye Bye” to our friendship.

He’s not my boyfriend or anything (as much as I daydream about him). And it’s not like he’s into me, anyway. Besides, I have zero time for romance in between running three dance teams, working an extra job to help support my family, and dealing with my snooty coworker.

Did I mention I’m also taking over snooty-coworker’s dance teams?

But don’t worry about me. I can handle everything!Right?

Book Review:

4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the Canyon Cove Love Stories series, and it is even better than the first! I feel like the characters had a little bit more depth in them, and I loved watching Scott and Ivy find each other. They are too cute!
Ivy has everything under control. Sure she’s struggling a bit with trying to help her parents after her dad’s accident which left him paralyzed from the waist down. And yes she’s currently helping her snooty co-worker’s dance teams for free while also trying to manage her own. Plus dealing with her secret guy-friend who’s not her boyfriend. But she has everything under control right?
I loved Ivy! She is so funny and spontaneous, but I loved seeing the struggle behind her smiles. She desperately wanted to be strong enough for everyone, but she had to learn that she doesn’t need to be. I think that Soleil has picked up on another really relatable struggle, and while I was frustrated with Ivy because she kept picking up more responsibilities, I also understood her.
Scott truly is so adorable! I think it’s sweet how much he loves Ivy and wants to take care of her. I think that while I really liked his character I would have liked to see more of his flaws. He felt a little too perfect, and I wanted to see more clashes as he and Ivy worked out how different they are.
The plot in this one was amazing! I was hooked from the beginning, and I was getting pretty mad on Ivy’s behalf. I liked how the ending wasn’t too unrealistically happily ever after. But don’t worry there was still a happily ever after! And I’m getting more and more excited for Thea and Ethan’s book! I think they’re going to be very cute together!
This is a clean, sweet romcom that I would recommend to anyone who loves romance novels! It can be read separately from Speak Your Truth, but I think it’s better to read them in order.

The Glass Gate

About the Book:

The Glass Gate: A Retelling of Cinderella (Faerie Tale Romances) by [Hanna Sandvig]

Title: The Glass Gate
Series: Faerie Tale Romances #4
Author: Hanna Sandvig
Release Date: June 30th, 2021
Genre: Fairytale Retelling

Sometimes all a girl needs is a good dress and some magic shoes.
Prince Charming is optional.

My goal was simple: create a killer fashion design portfolio, win the scholarship to the school of my dreams, and never have to clean my step-family’s house again. I just needed some inspiration. Something to set my portfolio apart from all the other up-and-coming designers. A little fashion magic.

I didn’t expect literal magic.

But then my friend dressed me up like a fae princess, and whisked me away to Faerie. The food! The dancing! The dresses! This was just the inspiration I needed, so when the crown prince asked me to stay and be his fake girlfriend, I jumped at the opportunity.

Prince Tiernan is gorgeous and charming, but I’m just a part of a plot to find his bride. That’s fine by me. I’m just here for the fashion. No messy feelings. On the other hand, it’s very hard to not have my head turned by a boy who gives me a dragon egg.

The longer I stay in Faerie with Tiernan, the more caught up I get in the magic of his kingdom, and I start to believe the stories we’re spinning for everyone. Stories of magic and sacrifice and maybe even true love.
I can’t lose sight of my goals. I need to win that scholarship. Putting my heart on the line for a prince and his kingdom is just too risky. Am I brave enough to try? Maybe if I find the right dress.

Where’s a fairy godmother when you need one?

Book Review:

The next in the Faerie Tale Romance series, The Glass Gate is a lovely romance and sweetly inspiring story! I have so enjoyed Hanna’s other stories and was so excited for this one! Ella is an inspiring fashion designer. Her key to escaping her step-family who essentially use her as a live-in housekeeper, unpaid of course, is an amazing portfolio so she can go to the design school of her dreams. She just needs some inspiration, something completely new, something magical. She just wasn’t expecting actual magic. When her friend Amber whisks her away to a faerie ball, she is enchanted. It is exactly what she needs. When a handsome faerie prince asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend, she jumps at the chance.Crown prince Tieran is just stalling as he tries to find a bride, but all Ella is there for is the fashion. But he is handsome, charming, and gives her a dragon egg…The longer Ella is in Faerie, the more she gets swept up in the magic and the stories they spin together, of love and sacrifice. But putting her heart on the line is too risky, right?

Okay, first of all, we (my sisters and I) have been waiting for this book, since Ella was introduced in the previous books (did anyone else catch her?). A Japanese-Canadian fashion designer? Yes please! As half-Japanese girls ourselves, this was super fun to see! Ella is driven, focused, and practical. I loved her kindness even in the midst of an unknown world like Faerie and how she connected with the different groups in Faerie. The Small Folk were such a fun group, I loved how Ella found her place first among them. Tiernan’s fianna was such a fun group! I would love to read stories for more of them! Each one had some characteristics that made them interesting and fun to read about.

I thought that it was so cool to see more of Faerie. We were able to see some places in the earlier books, but this was a much more full look. I really appreciated how Ella and Tiernan’s relationship grew over time as they got to know one another. The interjections of their friends were really fun and I loved the dragon! I would definitely recommend this sweet YA fantasy romance. It is part of a series, which I recommend you read for full enjoyment, but can be read as a standalone.

Not Dead Yet

About the Book:

Not Dead Yet (Guardian, #6) by [Traci Hunter Abramson]

Title: Not Dead Yet
Series: Guardian #6
Author: Traci Hunter Abramson
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: June 13th, 2022
Genre: Suspense

Cassidy Edgemont has been dead for four years. At least, that is what the world has been led to believe. After becoming unwittingly entangled in a group called the Coalition, known for using fake news to generate political unrest in the United States, Cas was offered a devastating choice: stage her own death and join her rescuers, the guardians, or risk the wrath of the organization she betrayed. She chose death.

As an invisible government operative, Cas has been living in Paris with no complications—until her family pays an unexpected visit to the European city, changing everything. They think Cas is dead, and she has to keep it that way. But when a bomb is detonated nearby and fake news incites riots in the city, Cas recognizes the mark of the Coalition.

Donovan, a fellow guardian, is summoned to join her in Paris to attempt to untangle the intricate web linking Cas’s past with the recent bombings. But as the threat level escalates, Cas must again make an impossible decision: face possible exposure to her family in her race to uncover the truth or risk the loss of innocent lives.

Book Review:

Another winner by Traci Hunter Abramson! Not Dead Yet is the sixth book in Traci Hunter Abramson’s Guardian series. I have to admit that I haven’t read the first five yet but it did not take away from the amazing book except that there were some characters who I did not really know, but otherwise it was great!

Cassidy Edgemont was a great character, she really drew me in from the beginning. I loved reading about Cas and reading about her trying to save her family. She had suffered a lot and lost a lot, but she was still trying to do the right thing through it all. It was definitely sweet to read about her interacting with Donovan and learning to trust him though. Cas was so strong and I just loved her character throughout the book

Donovan was also lovely. I loved him from the beginning. It was fun to read from his perspective and see him learning to trust Cas, and then falling in love. He was also a guardian and he wanted to find his own family. Donovan worked hard to protect Cas and help their mission.

Donovan and Cas were cute together and I definitely loved reading about their interactions. However romance was not the only thing that kept this book going. There was suspense and mystery. Oh my goodness, I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. I didn’t know what was going to happen or how Cas was going to protect her family. It was so exciting and I was engaged the whole time

Not Dead Yet was wonderful! I loved everything about it! It was fun to see the other characters, I need to go read their books. I would definitely recommend Not Dead Yet. Not Dead Yet is a clean romantic suspense book.

Book Review:

This was just so cute and fun! I loved everything about it. I have not read any books by Britney M. Mills but I have now just added a bunch of books to my TBR! Matched with her Fake Fiance is the second book in Britney M. Mills’ new series Romance by Love, Austen.

Dani was a breath of fresh air. I loved her honestly and how she worked so hard. She was trying to make a life for herself, but nothing was going according to plan. She never expected to be fake dating someone and then ending up fake engaged to the same guy, but that was where she was. Dani was sweet as she interacted with Miles. I loved how Dani was able to calm Miles and help be himself. But Dani would have to figure out if falling in love was worth the risk of her heart.

Miles was also a wonderful character! I liked him from the beginning. He carried such a heavy burden on his shoulders, but I loved how he could just relax around Dani. It was cute to read about him falling in love and wanting to care for Dani. Miles had to learn what he wanted, will he keep on following his mother’s lead or will he find his own path.

I loved the chemistry between Miles and Dani, they really helped each other. The side characters were also a lot of fun! Miles’ friends and Dani’s roommates all need their own books. Dani’s family was also fun, I liked reading about their interaction. All in all this was a pretty great book!

The characters were just a lot of fun to read about and the story was so easy to read. I have been trudging through my ARCs but this one was a breeze to read. I liked the characters and I wanted to see how this book would end. I actually ended up reading it in one day, it was just that good! I would totally recommend Matched with her Fake Fiance. I am also really excited for the next book, I have no idea who it will be about but I cannot wait!

Betsy: A Sweet Romantic Comedy (Sewing in SoCal Book 5) by [Sarah Monzon]

Title: Betsy
Series: Sewing in SoCal #5
Author: Sarah Monzon
Release Date: June 13th, 2022
Genre: Rom-com

Rule #1. Never fall for a musician
Rule #2. There are no exceptions to rule #1

As a professional sound engineer, I’m around musicians every day, so I know what I’m talking about when I say they aren’t boyfriend material. They’re only looking out for number one, and that ain’t you, honey. Give them a map with destination Not on Your Life, Mister highlighted, underlined, and circled for good measure.

That being said, what am I supposed to do with Asher North, lead singer of the band True North and my new boss? My glares don’t intimidate him, and my sarcasm only seems to draw him closer instead of pushing him away. The longer we’re on tour together, the less my rules make sense. And the more he looks at me the way he does, as if he can see right through the wall I’ve so diligently constructed, the more I want to throw those rules right out the window.

Book Review:

The end of the Sewing in SoCal series! This was such a fun series. I loved seeing Betsy’s happily ever after. It was so cute to watch her find her match, and I loved seeing the reasons behind some of her hostility. And we got to see all the rest of the gang again too!

Betsy is not a fan of musicians. And she is determined to never become one or date one, but when Asher North, a Christian artist, works with her, he starts proving her wrong on every turn. He’s kind, humble, and honestly trying to follow God. But will she be able to put aside her prejudice and actually trust him?

Betsy was super sarcastic and kinda harsh in all the books, but she had such a big heart. She genuinely loves her friends and her families, and I love how Asher saw that side of her right away. It was sweet to see how he liked all of her though, her snarky comments and her big heart. And the big reveal of why Betsy doesn’t like musicians was quite satisfying. It felt really fresh and different in a way that fit her personality.

Asher was a sweetheart! He was such a good guy, and he really was trying to love God and love people. While I thought it was sweet how he tried to balance showing interest in Betsy and pursuing her without pushing himself on her , I think he was a bit too pushy sometimes.

The plot itself was fun! It is a bit rushed, but I felt like it fit the rom com vibe. But I would have loved to have more conversations with the two of them. This is a clean romance with some innuendo. I would recommend it to anyone who likes rom coms!
